Introducing James Hayward

james-hayward-headshot-laurasinternationalWe are delighted to introduce the newest member of our team – James Hayward.

Prior to joining the LI Europe Senior Consulting team, James was a Plant Manager at Nufarm UK – one of the world’s leading crop protection and specialist seeds companies that manufactures products to help farmers protect their crops against damage caused by weeds, pests and disease.

With more than a decade of experience in glass and chemical manufacturing in a range of technical and operations roles, James is a skilled Continuous Improvement facilitator in Process Engineering environments.

As well as training shop floor teams in how to apply our Manufacturing Improvement Toolkit, James will be working closely with our customers’ engineering teams to help develop reliable maintenance that supports sustainable operational improvements.

Firstly, Reckitt Benckiser and LI pulled together to improve efficiency levels and there was a focus on both external and internal resources. Before LI arrived efficiency was not good. Secondly, there was good methodology and training using operators to support its implementation. Thirdly, there was daily and hourly focusing on performance. Since LI left, improvements have been sustained.

A key learning for me was that delegation is as much about the development of others as it is removing an action from my list. I now think of delegation as an opportunity for my team to develop and try new things. The more I do it, the more effective it is. Delegation is now one of my key management tools.
